Fort Thomson Community Center: Demolition Begins!

May 4, 2011 – Fort Thompson, SD

This abandoned gas station at the Rt 47 junction in Fort Thompson was once a community hangout and one of the few family owned businesses in Fort Thomspon. Many fun hours were passed here by the Rank family, but now the building only showcased drinking drifters sitting near the west wall. However, a change began today thanks to Americorps, The Harvest Initiative, Hunkpati Investments, The Boys and Girls Club of Three Districts, The South Dakota Housing Authority, and the Crow Creek Tribe. What was, up until today, an abandoned gas station will soon become the new community center for Fort Thompson. Demolition begins!

haha! ’tis so much easier to destroy than to rebuild.

I miss you too. I hope everything is going well, and send your family my love.

      Love you!
