Post-Flooding Update Update

Since everything started happening in Pierre, I have relocated to a room at the Better Alternative School in Fort Thompson. Spooky and I are still adjusting to the new living conditions – much smaller with a shared kitchen. I feel the worst for him – he’s constantly scratching at the door now trying to escape.

I worked out a deal with the school where I can stay as long as I do some work around the yard, and inside fixing up the place. It’s nice to have a project like this. It’s been helpful actually, it gets me seen in the community more, and also gives me a better perspective on a project that I’m working on long term – the South Dakota Safe Roads to Schools program that the council and my supervisor asked me to look into.

They opened the spillways at Oahe today and they’ll have a much better idea of the extent of the flooding by tomorrow. Officials are talking about opening up the floodgates at Big Bend. I heard from my supervisor that they’ll open the spillways on Saturday, so I’ll try to get some video of it if I can.

Also, I’ve been recording music on my laptop to stay busy on the off-hours, and one of the best things I came up with was a weird drone piece.
